I would recommend this text and the supplementary material to any instructor teaching an introductory course in HIT degree programs because it is written at their level and presents the information in a logical, sequential manner. The fact that the entire text is written by just two authors provides for a cohesive, non-repetitive presentation of the material."
"[This text] is very thorough and provides very good examples. It provides a good introduction to HIM and sets a foundation for the other HIM courses."

Well Written
By Jay Mittener
This is a very well written text book. It's concise and easy to understand for students. The quality of the book is also very good, strong binding and a soft cover. I find the exercises and charts particularly helpful.

Book is great, CD is NOT!
By C. Elley
There's appears to be an widespread issue with the CD that comes with this book. In my current class we were supposed to use it regularly, but found out that we couldn't because only 1 person in my class actually had a cd that worked. It is not "operator's error" I assure you. The executable file is corrupt, therefore the program will never install. And, when I contacted the seller about this they sent me another cd, after much inconvenience. AND, the second cd also had the same problem. Also, the cd's come already scratched and/or foggy on the bottom. Not sure how this is being allowed, but very frustrating. Especially since I am supposed to use this book for another class next quarter and we're going to have to go through this all over again...in reference to my teacher realizing nobody can use their cd. I called the publisher's customer service and they forwarded me to tech support, although if you know anything about computers, you know that if the executable file is corrupt, no tech support can fix that. So, then tech support said they couldn't do anything for me since they hadn't gotten any memos stating this was a widespread problem. That's probably due to the fact that most students don't have the time nor the energy to make numerous phone calls only to get no resolution.

Essentials of Health Information Management Principles
By W. L. Christ
I give this book a 5 star. It was very easy to navigate around, search for what I needed, and clearly understand each chapter. After reading the text book...I've gained a lot of insight in the Health Information Management field. I would honestly recommend this book to anyone. I would also like to give thumbs up to Amazon in shipping this book to me in a hurry. I overheard someone at the college book store not having the books available for our class. So, I ordered the book right away from Amazon. I showed up for class and beleive it or not.....I was the only one (in class) who had a book. Everyone else had to wait 3 weeks before they could start their assignment. I have been very please with every order that I have placed with Amazon and I have ordered a lot from them:-)
