The Vital Judo books are my all-time favorite Judo books.

There are two volumes - Throwing Techniques and Grappling Techniques. Rather than the usual textbooks which include only the basics, these books are dedicated solely to applications and combinations. If you want ideas on how and where to apply your favorite throw or ne-waza move, these books are for you. These books are much more like the Judo Masterclass Techniques, and I wish someone was still publishing these as they are outstanding.

About the Author
James D. Gwartney holds the Gus A. Stavros Eminent Scholar Chair at Florida State University, where he directs the Stavros Center for the Advancement of Free Enterprise and Economic Education. His writings have been widely published in both professional journals and popular media. He is a co-author of COMMON SENSE ECONOMICS: WHAT EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT WEALTH AND PROSPERITY (St. Martin's Press, 2016), a primer on economics and personal finance. Dr. Gwartney's current research focuses on the measurement and determination of factors that influence cross-country differences in income levels and growth rates. In this regard he is the co-author (with Robert Lawson and Joshua Hall) of the annual report, Economic Freedom of the World, which provides information on the institutions and policies of 157 countries. This data set, published by a worldwide network of institutes in 80 countries, is widely used by scholars investigating topics ranging from economic growth to peaceful relations among nations. Dr. Gwartney served as Chief Economist of the Joint Economic Committee of the U.S. Congress during 1999-2000. In 2004, he was the recipient of the Adam Smith Award of the Association of Private Enterprise Education for his contribution to the advancement of free market ideals. He is a past President of the Southern Economic Association and the Association for Private Enterprise Education. He earned his Ph.D. in economics from the University of Washington.

Richard L. Stroup is Professor Emeritus of economics at Montana State University and Professor Emeritus of economics at North Carolina State University. His Ph.D. is from the University of Washington. From 1982 to 1984 he served as director of the Office of Policy Analysis at the U.S. Department of the Interior. Stroup has published and lectured on topics such as global warming, land use regulation, archaeology, and about needed environmental policy improvements. His research helped to develop the approach known as free market environmentalism. He is a co-author of COMMON SENSE ECONOMICS: WHAT EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT WEALTH AND PROSPERITY (St. Martin's Press, 2016). His book ECONOMICS: WHAT EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT ECONOMICS AND THE ENVIRONMENT (Washington: Cato Institute, 2003) was sponsored by the Property and Environment Research Center, of which he is a co-founder.

Russell S. Sobel earned his Ph.D. in economics from Florida State University in 1994. He has published more than 200 books and articles, and has received national recognition for his works on entrepreneurship and FEMA reform. Dr. Sobel serves on the editorial board for three academic journals, and on the advisory board for four university centers. He has won numerous awards for both his teaching and his research. He regularly teaches courses in both principles of economics and public economics and gives lectures at economic education outreach programs. Dr. Sobel is a Professor of Economics and Entrepreneurship at The Citadel.

David A. Macpherson is the E.M. Stevens Distinguished Professor of Economics and Economics Department Chair at Trinity University. Previously, he was Director of the Pepper Institute on Aging and Public Policy and the Rod and Hope Brim Eminent Scholar of Economics at Florida State University, where he received two university-wide awards for teaching excellence. His teaching areas include principles of microeconomics, money and banking, econometrics, and labor economics. Dr. Macpherson is an applied economist whose research focuses on real estate, pensions, discrimination, industry deregulation, labor unions, and the minimum wage. He has published more than 60 articles in leading economics and real estate journals, including Review of Economic and Statistics, Journal of Labor Economics, Journal of Human Resources, Industrial and Labor Relations Review, Journal of Real Estate Economics and Finance. His research has been funded by a variety of entities including the National Science Foundation, Florida Legislature, and the National Association of Realtors. He is co-author of the undergraduate labor economics text, CONTEMPORARY LABOR ECONOMICS, 11E as well as the annual UNION MEMBERSHIP AND EARNINGS DATA BOOK: COMPLIATIONS FROM THE CURRENT POPULATION SURVEY. He is included in WHO'S WHO IN ECONOMICS, 4E which includes the 1,200 most frequently cited economists. Dr. Macpherson received his undergraduate degree and Ph.D. from Pennsylvania State University.

Debbie Troklus, CHC-F, CCEP-F, CHRC, CHPC, is Managing Director for Aegis Compliance and Ethics Center, where she advises clients on a wide variety of compliance related topics including compliance program implementation, compliance program effectiveness reviews, coding and billing, audit, education development and delivery, investigations, IRO services and interim and/or outsourced compliance work. She currently serves on the board of the Health Care Compliance Association and was President in 2000. She also serves on the advisory board of the Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics and is the current president for the Compliance Certification Board.

Sheryl Vacca, CCEP-F, CCEP-I, CHC-F, CHPC, CHRC, is Senior Vice President and Chief Compliance and Audit Officer for the University of California. In this role, Sheryl directs and oversees the University system-wide compliance and internal audit programs applicable to all UC communities including ten campuses, five medical centers, the Berkeley National Laboratory, (Lawrence Livermore National Lab and Los Alamos National Lab LLP (indirect)), ANR and the Office of the President. Sheryl is a board member of the Health Care Compliance Association, and advisory board member of the Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics. Sheryl has presented or written on compliance and/or internal audit topics internationally.

OPCS is one of the most unique books I've read. The author, Blake Burleson, takes you on a tour of his life experiences which in turn, influenced his notion of the golf swing. I must admit I found those experiences so interesting, that I read the book a second time. Blake describes rough patches during his life, and throughout the book, I found myself rooting for him to overcome whatever obstacle was in his way. The book is written in a very down to earth fashion, which is rare compared to the average book on golf. I recommend Blake's book to anyone who appreciates the game of golf and is aware of the challenges it presents. Well done Mr. Burleson!

Anybody who has not read Blake's new book, should do so...... there were so many times that I laughed out loud when I was reading by myself. Blake definitely has a way with words that cuts out all the BS and still gets his point across with flair, humor, sincerity and a point of view that is unmatched by others, whether you agree with his viewpoint or not, he gives a compelling explanation of what Hogan did through his swing....... it well worth the time to read and you just might learn something...... I thoroughly enjoyed every page........ thank you Blake!!!!!!

About the Author
Dr. Subramanian Senthilkannan is currently working for SGS as a global sustainability consultant, based at Hong Kong. He gained his diploma, bachelors and masters in Textile Technology from premier institutes of India. He was awarded doctorate from The Institute of Textiles and Clothing of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University for his dissertation entitled,” Eco-functional Assessment of Grocery Shopping Bags” He also has more than seven years of industrial experience in textile manufacturing, testing and sustainability evaluation of textiles and clothing materials. He was an outstanding student throughout his studies and bagged numerous awards and medals including many gold medals in his study period. He has more than 75 academic publications in various textiles and environmental journals to his credit. Additionally he has 2 patents, 2 books of chapter and 13 books and numerous conference publications. He is acting as an editor, editorial board member and reviewer for many international peer-reviewed journals of textiles and environmental science disciplines. �He is the editor-in-chief of Textiles and Clothing Sustainability journal of Springer. Additionally, he is one of the directors of Textile and Bioengineering Informatics Society, (TBIS) which is a charitable organization created to foster, develop and promote all aspects of science and technology in bioengineering of materials, fibers and textiles.�
Miguel Angel Gardetti, Ph.D., has been the head of the Center for Study of Sustainable Luxury since its foundation in 2009. In this field, he has lectured at the IE Business School (Madrid, Spain), one of the top business schools in Europe. Moreover, he was a speaker at Identidad Uruguay, an event organised by the Universidad de Empresa (Montevideo), with a lecture on fashion, luxury, and sustainability. He was the creator of the Best Performance in Sustainable Luxury in Latin America Award at present evolving towards the IE Award for Sustainability in the Premium & Luxury Sectors at a global level. He has also developed several publications in the area of sustainable luxury.
Miguel is a member of the United Nations Global Compact Promoting Group in Argentina and a member of its governance body―the Board of the Argentine Chapter of The Global Compact―for two consecutive terms. He was co-founder of the Global Compact Chair in Argentina, and he was also part of the task force that developed the ‘Management Responsible Education Principles’ of the United Nations Global Compact.�
He has also coordinated tasks for the Inter-American Development Bank, the International Finance Corporation (private sector arm of the World Bank), the Netherlands Development Organisation, the United Nations (New York), and the World Resources Institute (USA).

There are three main characters in this murder thriller, Francis Tate, Grace a teacher that he had strong affections for but who in turn did not feel the same and Dr Sam Meadows Graces current attraction.

The story starts out with Francis just getting out of a two year stint in prison. He is in pursuit to finish the job that put him there in the first place; to kill Grace and make her pay for all the things she had done to him. As he is traveling he picks up a hiker, Bryce Ballentine, an 18 year old runaway who was on his way to New York City to try his hand at acting on Broadway. This is Francis’s first kill after getting out of prison. It enthralled and engulfed him, to the point that he mutilates Bryce’s body so it could not be identified, puts him behind the wheel and pushes the car into the lake. Francis steals Bryce’s identity and cell phone; all too soon Frances becomes fascinated with Bryce’s 13 year old sister as she tries to communicate with Bryce and finds himself headed to Bryce’s home only to decide that he had to kill again. Kayla knows too much about him.

France’s own father was a PE teacher at the high school and his mother was a drunk with no respect or love for Frances. Because he did not like nor wanted to participate in sports his father also hated him.

With each kill he made the person fear the worst horror and nightmares. “The devil inside of him knows exactly what he’s doing”. Once again on the pursuit to find and kill Grace, there is an obstacle Dr Sam Meadows, Grace’s current boy friend.

This story is well written, great description and attention to details. Author has a wide vocabulary and knowledge of the subject. This one held my interest, couldn't put it down until I finished it. I would put Charlotte Raine in the same group of writers as Sidney Sheldon and James Patterson.

The ending will surprise you

.I would however, suggest that you read" Teacher Beware" which is Charlotte's prequel to "Disturbed Mind".

Felt Too Rushed

So book two, "Disturbed Mind," picks up months after Grace kills Deke Cochrane in self-defence in book one, "Teacher Beware." Like book one, the chapters are chopped up giving the reader not just Sam and Grace's POV, but Francis Tate's as well, the student who attacked Grace back in Ohio. I say "chopped" because the author not only tells you whose POV you're reading, but also the date, and their location. For me it was a little bit all over the map. While the plot is an engaging one, everything about it felt rushed.

Like before, I liked Grace. I just thought she'd gone thru so much in such a short time. However, when it came to her relationship with Sam, nothing about it came across as positive. In such a short time their relationship becomes a rollercoaster ride. Are they committed to each other? Do they need space? Do they love each other? Not to mention I felt everything about their relationship was rushed. What I also didn't understand was Sam. For a supposedly smart guy, when it came to his ex-girlfriend, Alicia, he was an idiot. Sam supposedly has a hard time talking about his feelings with anyone, whether it be with his friend, John, Grace, or his family. Yet, when he and Alicia go to lunch, at one point he says it felt good to talk to someone about what's going on with him. Hello?? I thought he couldn't do this with anyone? If he loves Grace so much, why can't he talk with her? Also, why hide that he's talked with Alicia several times over the phone? Talked to her in person? Had lunch together? The fact that if something doesn't go his way, forget talking about it. He'd rather get drunk. If anything, I thought it was Grace who put a lot more into the relationship than it was worth. But that's me. C'est la vie.

In the end, a decent story that unfortunately felt very rushed from beginning to end. I'll leave it up to your discretion whether to read "Disturbed Mind" or not. One last thing, if you plan on reading "Disturbed Mind," read "Teacher Beware" first to understand the whole story.

Loved this sequel to Charlotte Raine's "Teacher Beware"

Loved this sequel to Charlotte Raine's "Teacher Beware". Both are page-turners keeping you glued to you Kindle for hours of reading & suspenseful scenes. I recommend you read them in order. The writer is very gifted, IMHO.
